They do, its called the Derby De la Meije. Its helled in La Grave, France every March. On a good snow year its a 7000 vert. thigh and lung demoralizer. On a bad snow year its a 4000 vert. thigh smasher of every snow condition you can imagine topped with a heaping dollup of moguls. There is NO GROOMING on La Grave. Show up without any mogul skills and you have ZERO chance of puting in a competitive time. Not too many people there over 40 (HA!)
When I was there I saw a MONOSKIER in a latex speed suit -complete with aerodynamic helmet, snowboarders with 190 cm swallowtail boards at warp-speed, teliskiers with a lot of cajones, and the guy that won it straight line a very long and steep mogul field with what appeared to be control. There was no pivot slap pivot slap rythm to it. He figure elevened the whole damn thing.
I see a lot of "Mogul skiing sucks, Mogul skiings rad!" On this thread. I would wager that the likes and dont likes are directly related to age of the skiers.
