Keep Marker M38 bindings on Volkl Carver Plus?

I got a great deal (72 year old retired from the slopes, excellent condition) on a pair of Volkl Carver Plus 184 cm with Marker M38 (2.5 - 9 DIN). I'm getting back into skiing and want to hit all of the terrain. I ski agressive and hit the steeps, but don't do jumping/moguls like I did 20 years ago.

I am concerned about the binding, I'm 6'1" and 190 lbs., size 11.5 boot. Do I need a sturdier binding? Should I stay with this binding setup or put them for sale on e-bay?

If this binding has been skied consistantly over the past 10 years (that how old 38 series are), I would replace them. I have seen 38 and 48 heels start to fail and break. look into a newer version with 10-12mm of lift i.e. Marker 8.1, 8.2, Salomon 812 ect. In good conscience, I couldn't sell M38's on ebay.

The Carver Plus is a really great all-around ski. I have skied it for the past three years and love it. Take the bindings to a good shop to have them evaluated. They may be as good as new, but chances are you will want to replace them with something more current. Bindings are not the place to scrimp!

If you ski aggressively, ski crud or ski moguls replace the binding. The M38 did not have much retention and was very easy to pop out of. You got a good ski, spend the money on some decent bindings so you can use it to its potential.
