Conditions at Stowe?

Can anyone out there comment? There are only a couple of trails open right now and I'm getting nervous. I've looked at a forecast and I don't see much more than flurries or possibly mixed precipitation.

Well, I was up at the mountain on Saturday and Sunday. I couldn't believe how many people were there considering the conditions. I was skiing our one trail on Spruce with a coupe of kids. It was well.... mostly snowy, some dirt and hay here and there, but mostly white. I was done by noon on Sunday. Right before the rain started. I'm not sure if it rained on the mounatin or not, but it did rain a lot at my house. Tuesday night, it snowed all night, switching to sleet all day yesterday (probably snow at the hill), switching back to near blizzard conditions last night. It's startig to clear up now, and it's looking white out there. Stowe is reporting 8 inches, and my friends that work snow-making are real busy now. I think we can expect conditions to be at least as good as they were last year, and I wouldn't be suprised to see a little more terrain than last year.

It snowed lightly all day today. Hey, you're the Ice Queen. I think we can at least arrange to have some of that for you.

Jury still out on that 50F nastiness mid-next week?

How about.... I let you know on Wednesday? Sound good?

I don't think I'd care to speculate further.

Now they're saying nothing outside the 30's for all next week...and it will change more times than I care to think about between now and ETU! No different than any other time - they have no idea :

Actually, I gave myself that name because I managed to survive a run down Gondolier at last year's ETU. And I do mean survive, it wasn't pretty. I'm hoping for a little better this year. . .

The best weather site I've seen is www.accuweather.com. In my experience, they're more accurate than any other site, and sometimes uncannily so (like predicting a 5-hour break in the rain, just long enough for my friend to have a huge outdoor party.) The only negative I see on their forecast is a possibility of mixed precip on Friday night. I'm sure that will be snow on the mountain!

We can only hope so. The crowds went away today, so I was over on Mansfield for the first time this year. The snow was really nice, and they are still making more.

It will come. You gotta believe!

You guys are having it much better than the PNW. And you've got the snowmaking gear. You will have a wonderful weekend!

Sounds like it's going to be a rain/snow mix all week. Hopefully more of the latter than the former.

Well, there was something coming down out there when I left the hill. It wasn't rain. I'm not sure I'd call it snow, but it was solid and made things white....

Accuweather says snow on Friday, wet snow Friday night. That's better than the last forecast I saw, which said rain Friday night. YES! Oh, and a little more snow Saturday.
