I prefer it because the fleece stays closer to my body and regulates my temperature better. Also, I've noticed, the Denali doesn't seem to be a good fit to be zipped into the ML since the ML has core vents that are placed on the mid-to side chest area where the Denali has nylon covering the fleece which may inhibit the performance of the vents.
As for TNF quality, I have noticed on more of their consumer-oriented items, i.e. Denali and daypacks, the quality has dipped. I had my 7 year old Recon pack replaced and the new Recon material feels substantially cheaper and less rugged compared to the old one. Some of my friends who had the Denali fleece had complained about loose threads consistently popping up, especially near the sleeves. On the other hand, I've had no problems with my tent or my ML. My g/f's Plasma Thermal has held up exceptionally.
Thanks for the response..maybe I should have gone for the plasma..
I also have a 2 year old denali that fits in perfectly, however, the bottom drawstrings ripped out and I can't even use that jacket during Fall anymore due to the draft up my back.
I also agree that the denali is probably not the best zip in for the jacket...I have a marmot precip down liner that I zip in and it keeps me much warmer than the denali and I have a greater freedom of movement and feel less restricted...and it is lighter
Do you think I can get the denali fixed via warranty? I mean the drawstrings ripped, and after a few mo, it eventually came out all together. I have the entire elastic cord..but there's no way I would be able to thread it back in, and plus it's ripped
I am very dissapointed in the quality..in addition to the ripped away elastic cord and loose threads, I looked inside the sleeves...and after 2 weeks of use, it seems to have weared away greatly..many sweat marks...Is this normal?
