Presidents Day or Spring Trip?

We are looking for ski area for a Presidents Day trip. We will be flying out of Minneapolis. I will be taking my 10-year old son on this trip. This will be his 7th year on skis. Our first choice is the Park City Area. How bad will the crowds be?

Deer Valley limits the number of lift ticket sold. Will this help with crowding. Maybe an other ski area such Big Mountain. Suggestions and commnets.

An alternative to a Presidents Day trip will be a spring trip the first week of April. Where is reliable snow Starting April 2.

Presidents Day will be a busy week at any Resort anywhere. I'd do a Spring trip if I were you.

As Lars said Presidents day weekend is the biggest ski weekend of the year. No matter where you go it will be crowded. Deer valley does limit lift tickets to under 6000 and they will sell out. I would avoid park city Mountain resort unless your vary good skiers and spend your day back in McConkeys and Jupitar even on the most packed days it is mostly locals in those areas. Also try Snowbasin it is a 45 min drive from Park City add anouther 15 mins and hit Powder Mountain. neither will have over taxing crowds.

You might want to consider Canadian areas. As you get away from the border it should be somewhat less crowded. Don't do Whistler or the southern B.C. areas, all of us Yanks just drive up there. Farther north in B.C. or Alberta might be the ticket. Never been there at that time, just a guess. I have a professional conference every year on that weekend so I can't go. Someone else may be able to confirm my hunch, or blow it out of the water.
