Atomic Bindings: Race 614 vs SX 614 ?

Here's my dilemna. I need bindings for a new pair of GS:11's (2004 model). As you may be aware, these skis are selling for under $200 on ebay now and the bindings are less than $100.

So back to my quandry, I'm trying to figure out if there ary any differences between the SX 614 and the Race 614 bindings, other than cosmetics. Any comments are appreciated.

send a private message to atomicman, if he doesn't jump on this.

Just cosmetics, I´m so sure I would bet my last dime on it
post #4 of 22
some of the race bindings from atomic have less lift. get atomicman on this.

I believe the SX614 is the same as the race, i.e. both have less lift than the Ride or CR version (and thus a slightly different pad for the brake, and a different AFD). So the only differences are cosmetics: green trim, instead of yellow, red or gray, and the label "SX" or "Supercross" instead of "Race."

No difference other than color. I have a pair of SX6.14 I need to sell, $150.00.

Thanks for the info. Having the choice of the Atomic Race 412 & 614 and SX 412 & 614 gives me more shopping choices. I've always resisted buying from Cupolo. Their prices are so tempting. But, with patience, one can usually find an equal or better deal from a US dealer.

What's the deal? I am buying a SX614 from them....Should I be worried? Are they not a real ebay seller? Should I call the Canadian authorities? Is the legal system in Canada uniform or is Ontario different?

They've been jackin' people around lately and have put things up for auction that they don't have.

I just got the same setup from Cupolo's. GS:11's and SX614's. No problems at all, though I'm in Canada, so no border hassles. I don't think you'll find this setup anywhere under the 300 buck range. The SX 614's don't have as much height above the plate as some of the CR bindings, and as far as I can tell, they're the same as the Race bindings, other than cosmetics. I've dealt with Cupolo's quite a bit, and never had any problems that ended unsatisfactory for me.

Recently ordered some 412's from Cupolo and never got them. They didn't sound like they were going to do anything about it so I called my credit card co. and they immediately credited my account back for the purchase.

Ended up buying some 614's from another vendor on ebay which I would have preferred anyway.

That sounds utterly unplausable to me. Why would a business try to sell something they don't have? Especially a high volume company like Cupola? I really can't understand that.

I just bought some 4.12's from them for $82. They took three weeks and when they came they were 6.14's. A good deal for me, though if they had been for my wife, who skis a din of 5 I would have had a Cupolo's saga in the making.

Good for you! But there you go, Jay doesn't ski, so he has no idea what's appropriate & what's not. Good thing it wasn't for your wife or a kid!

Well start understanding! Ott, not much of a business mind are you? How about bringing in equipment you've already sold and been paid for so you don't have to inventory & pay for it out of your own money since it is presold?

Retail is all about terms and cash flow. Now is it plausible? Wouldn't you rather get orders upfront and then fill them. That would normally be fine, but I don't think it is ethical in a bidding environment whne you can't fulfill your end of the deal!

I bought, didn't even bid, paid the "BUY IT NOW" price. Paid immediately through Paypal, same day from my checking account. 3 weeks went by. No call no communication. I called and they said they would call me back. They never called. I called again. They said the skis would be in the next week. Hello Ott??? They auctioned skis they didn't have!!!!!!!!

Then when Scalce & I complained about there ridiculous business practices on the Forum, he sent my money back (over a month after I paid him) and then put negative feedback and derogatory personal attacks on my ebay profile. I guess because I paid so promptly and expected what I had paid for or a phone call or email within a month. Cupolo can kiss my A_ _. They'll never get another dime of my money or anyone's I know! I'd rather pay a reputable retailer more than put up with his BS. By the way I initiated mediation to get the inaccurate slanderous negative feedback removed and he has refused to participate, which means it should get taken off my profile. Only negative comment I've ever had and sold & bought lots of stuff on here and on ebay. I do what I say I'm going to do when I said I was going to do it!

So Ott!! understand it now?

One more thing. I just got my phone bill. The last time I called they put me on hold for 20 minutes and the phone call cost me over $20.00

Holy crap! I had no idea such things went on, I must have been living in a bubble. I have never had a bad experience dealing with anybody I bought from or sold things to, maybe this will be the first time but I hope not.

BTW, I didn't mean to get you all excited I just wondered.

I've been wondering how it is they can have as many very popular skis (Metron b5, anyone?) for such low buy-it-now prices. This likely explains it.

I wonder what it would take to start a reputable small retailer with an eBay presence...

Ott not your fault, I was already excited you just gave me the outlet to vent a little! I never had a problem before either until this! The sad thing is these skis were for a friend of mine. I was doing the guy a favor.

Now the good news! Canyons saw my post about this on here and sold me the skis for the same price as Cupolo. I bought some bindings from him last year! He's a good man and I reallt appreciated his help!

I don't want to start a flame war here, but it seems like what we've got here is a couple of unhappy customers making a lot of noise, and a whole lot of satisfied customers out enjoying the gear that they got great deals on.

I've been lucky, but I'm not happy about what I've heard. Many of our compatriots here have not been so blessed. I would avoid them unless you have a long time line, limited funds and would never have a need to return or exchange.
