Ski edges

I have noticed that different ski models have different edge thickness. Does it mean skis (very often expensive ones) with thinner edge have shorter life expectancy? Or thinner edge is compensated with better material that require less tuning? I could not find any information on that matter on web. :

Wow, good Question. Never thought about that.

P-Tex (ski base) is faster than metal that is why high end (race oriented) skis often have thinner edge.

Most people don't tune their skis often enough for the thinner edge to translate to shorter ski life. But many people (such as myself) do...
