Sure, I agree, this is a pretty sub par substitute for real hunting, and personally I could never envision myself having any interest in it; heck, I wouldn't even consider a real life guided hunt because I find the element of dependence on another for my success very distasteful.
But still, I can see where it could at least offer some means, even if admittedly minimal, for the physically impaired, for those who don't have access to a real life hunting venue, or for those who can't afford the money or time to travel to viable hunting grounds, to satisfy that innate impulse that dwells somewhere deep in a mans DNA to pick up a weapon and venture into the wilderness in search of sustenance.
Sure, it could attract some off center individuals, lazy individuals, sadistic individuals, etc, just as you suggest. But hey, if this was set up as the controlled environment that I envision at least it would make it impossible for them to impose the type of danger on society they could in a real woods setting with a gun that is under their sole and complete control, or through any other real life devious and dangerous outlet they might instead indulge in.
Wacko's are just part of our world Kima, we can't just will them away, and we shouldn't deny legitimate pleasures to the responsible out of fear or disdain for these irresponsibles. There's a cost that comes with living in a truly free society, and if we truly desire that freedom then we have to be willing to accept and bare that reality.
