I am in the market for a new pair of skis as mine broke last season and wonder if someone can give me some advice.
I am not a beginner, nor an expert skier. I am a confident skier who learns quickly. I have skied a total of around 12 weeks over 10 years (although this year I plan to ski at least 4 weeks). There are few slopes which I can't get down but my technique starts to suffer on very steep or icy blacks. I am most comfortable and ski best on blues and reds. I plan to take some lessons to improve my technique
Last year was my first time on shaped skis - Salomon Crossmax 8 Pilot (170cm). They were great fun for medium to long radius turns but found them hard to push into short tight turns and therefore speed control was tough for me, whilst keeping any style, on steep runs. Perhaps this is because they are relatively heavy skis and I am not very big 5'10 and 65Kg's (10 stone).
My skiing is predominantly on piste and I don't plan to start to tackle any serious powder any time soon - I think I would buy a second pair if I was going to anyway. I ski mainly medium turns and would like to ski good tight turns but not really mastered this up until now.
I have been considering the following: Atomic C9.18's and Head i.C 170 railflex or maybe skiing the Crossmax 8's shorter but also heard that Salomon Equipe 10 3V's might be worth a try. Does anyone have any advice on these or any other skis that might suit me?
Any comments appreciated.
