Just thought I'd wish a Happy Birthday to the man that made me Mrs. Barcus!

Happy Birthday, Bennett!

Happy Birthday, Oboe! I hope you have a brilliant year.
Gee, thanks!

In all candor, when I wole up this morning I'd forgotten about it (either a failing or selective memory) - until I received an e-mail from dchan wishing me Happy Birthday from the folks at EpicSki!

This year, nolo, to make it "brilliant", I plan more PSIA events to help fill that huge gap in my skills and knowledge. Somehow, with the demands on my time from work and family issues, I'm doubting that Level II will happen until '06 - but, as Confucius is said to have said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
Thanks for the thoughts and good wishes!

The older Oboe gets, the more young chicks dig him.

I'm going to ad my birthday greeting to the list. Maybe you should treat yourself to a Birthday ski weekend. Brighton opens Friday!

Sixrty-three, and I don't look or feel a day over one hundred and five. James, it's not just young chicks . . . it's geese, herons, and even vultures.

. . . and believe it or not, I'm not the oldest Bear. Guess who is! The prize is free legal advice (worth every cent you pay).

Happy Birthday, Oboe and many happy returns.
In answer to your question, would the oldest Bear be Ohio's own Ott Gangl?

Enjoy your Killians.

Happy Birthday Oboe and I'm sorry I won't get to see you at ETU this year. I hope we can get together some day for a few turns. You were primarily responsible for getting me to go to ETU last year and I am very grateful. Please let me kow if you ever make it up to Maine.

Happy Birthday, Oboe! FYI, my next door neighbor, John, is 77 and gets in about 100 ski days per year. That's my goal.

have you forgiven me for cutting you off at targhee?

(where IS that picture?)

I turned 54 last week Oboe. I'd wish you a happy one but if you feel like me anymore, I'm just glad to be around.

The alternative to birthdays isn't good. We must have birthdays I suppose.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed the day and may you have many more.

RED SOX!!!!
Thank you, all, for your wishes, and thanks to whatever powers there be that I have lived long enough to see the Red Sox win the World Series. The Force be with them always.

Onward to another helping of this wonderful life!

"I love you madly!" [Duke Ellington]

P.S. No, I have not forgiven you, Ryan, but I will accept an opportunity to re-ski Targhee, this time when our legs are at the beginning of the ski trip and not noodles at the end.

P.P.S. Ott, how old are you, and is there any other Bear out there older than that? (I'm looking forward to giving out the prize)

I'm 72, oboe, and I don't know if there is someone older on the board. When I wa 40 the hill was full of skiers my age but now there are just a handfull of my age left, the others have moved to Florida.

....Ott
Good on ya, Ott! The guys in their seventies with whom I ski are much better skiers than am I (although that's not necessarily saying much). I do realize they've had that much more experience, and by the time I'm seventy, I'll be much improved.

So . . . who's the Bear older than Ott?
Turns, terns, vultures, and urns...be damned! Birthdays are the consequence of not dying.

Happy Birthday, Oboe, and may there be many more!

(And Happy Halloween, too. And don't forget to turn your clock back!)

Best regards,
Bob Barnes

Thanks for the wishes - and for the reminder, Bob. The good news: Tomorrow morning, I'll be an hour younger.
