TO sum up for me, I'll pay up to 20% off retail but not msrp. I wish I had grabbed boots last year instead of waiting.
Yep, you get what you pay for. Last time I took the ski shop route and it was the right choice by far. I didn't have the a-team for my first fitting and they orginally put me in a too small boot -- after blowing the toe out when trying to get the toebox out the umpteenth time they ended up getting me a whole new pair of boots. Wouldn't get that level of service after-market, nor would I expect it.

Also, ski shop employees tend to be smarter than the average retail cookie. If we deal with a frequent customer, we are more likely to give that customer a break when they need one. Its human nature. People that walk in with boots that don't pay our payroll aren't likely to receive our best attention, though they will receive our best service.
