I'm 5'-10, 240lbs(!) in 27 shells. I've had the shell ground way a bit above the 4th metatarsals, removed the crap in front of the spoilers, had the foot board lowered a bit, had the shaft heated to try to get a more upright stance (good luck, its about a half inch thick), custom footbeds, had the soles planed for canting, had toe lifts installed etc.. To me the flex stiffness just isn't there at all. My only real complaint is a little too much blt in forward lean and the lack of something immediately in front as I begin to flex. My previous boots (Technicas) were better in this regard. The thing with stiffness isn't so much transmission of force to the skis, in my opinion. This is accomplished primarily with body position ie. geometry. The real issue is feedback. The variation of pressure informs the skier as to his relative position vis a vis the skis and he can gauge his movement with respect to the skis. Thats why I like a boot tongue with immediate contact and a bit of resistance. The Head boots are good boots. The hardware is good quality and the bladders are well made. The shells are well designed at keast for my feet. I would think lighter skiers (who isn't?) would find them plenty stiff enough.
