Question for Physicsman

The newest Mr. Goodwrench radio ad has our hero meeting with a scientist over lunch. That now begs the question....

Do you eat lunch at your periodic table???

I know, I know, it would work better if you were ChemistryMan, but I had to try it.

Not much going on up there in New Hampshire this time of year, T-square? Sure hope it snows soon!

You got it Bob.

I hope to get some turns in in November if there is white stuff on the hills. (I've been to CO, I know you think of our "Mountains" as nothing more than foothills. But what you call ice, we call New England powder.)

I'll be out at Copper and Breck in late Nov and early Dec. (Hartford Ski Spectacular.) Then I'll get my real first fix.

Periodically

Hah! You've got me wrong, T. I know those mountains out there, and I know better than to belittle them. I grew up in northern Maine, and skied Sugarloaf when I could, and Mars Hill/BigRock a lot. I was also lucky enough to be at Stowe last December, when they got what some reported as the third biggest snow storm on record! I don't care what anyone says, New England can have some fine skiing!

We should have some good snow for you by the time you get here--may even have skiing by this weekend at Arapahoe and/or Loveland. And I'll be in Stowe again for the Eastern Tune-Up December 13-14. Will you be there?

Best regards,
Bob Barnes

PS--I knew you were going to say that, PM!

Bob,

Wish I could be. The Hartford Ski Spec is Dec 5-12 and I'll be traveling home on the 13th. Sooo, not this year. Damn, it sucks when the good ones are in your backyard and you can't make em.

Maybe we can get some of you guys out to Breck for the Ski Spec. Its a great, fun, learning experience.

P-Man,

The master of understatement I see. I'm amazed you didn't have a formula to explain what your periodicity is and how it is influenced by the shells (peanut, not electron).

Speaking of which, did you hear about the guy that went in a bar for a drink and started hearing voices?

First, he heard a male voice say, "Nice suit, guy!". Nobody was within 10 feet of him.

Next, a female voice said, "Hey stud, you look great tonight!". He whirled around to see who said it, but once again, there was not a soul anywhere nearby.

Every few minutes, the same sort of thing happened.

Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore so he called the bartender over. He didn't care if the bartender thought he was crazy, so he asked him, "Do you ever hear little voices in your head?"

The bartender cocked his head, looked him straight in the eye and asked, "What are they saying?"

He barely finished repeating what the first voice said when the bartender laughed, stopped him, and said,

"Oh, don't worry about that, the peanuts are complimentary"

Tom / PM

PS - You had to mention shells, didn't you?

PS#2 - Yeah, I know it's a shortened version of the old standard with both talking peanuts and a talking cigarette machine, but I like it a bit better (and rarely get the chance to use it. )
