Actually Didelis, I find that what tends to slow us down is all the heavy thinking we start to do when we know too much about skiing. Just turn your brain off and think FUN thoughts. Go look for little terrain features to play with, cruise all over the pace don't care what you think you look like or what anyone else thinks about your skiing. Sing a song in your head (oh hell, sing it out loud!), put a smile on your face and remember, (this is something I try to tell all my students), you are spending your money and time to come out here and recreate! (those are little recreational vehicles strapped to your feet) So make sure you have fun, whether you like it or not!

If you have a hard time grasping this concept, it's best to start out and ski alone, first thing in the morning, when you don't have other eyes on you. And remember, it could be worse.... you could be in the office!

Jonas,

I read your post... and what I read is that you're a bit dismayed because you don't want to go fast anymore.

I like all the suggestions about how to go faster - I just don't sense that you really want to... maybe that goes against the grain for a male skier?

I know lots of older/good to excellent skiers and they all have their own "style" of skiing. Some are freight train fast and others more deliberate. The bottom line is that they are skiing for themselves - for the fun of it. That's all that really matters!
