FINALLY, boots that fit.

Ok, I took all of your suggestions and went to see Greg and Sandy at Green Mountain Orthotics...Unbelievable.

I went with the Salomon Xwave 8s...these (with the 3d buckle,) solved that crushing top of foot, numb toes problem. we addressed issues that I knew I had, and some alignment issues that I didn't even KNOW i had.

I was very impressed with the shop, and sandi and gregs eye for alignment, and attention to detail. They took the time to make sure that I was getting the best possible fit. Above that, the atmosphere was very friendly and definetly a shop that you can build a relationship with, and I would have no problem going back if There were any issues in the future, they do stand behind their work.

NOTE to newbies and others shopping for boots...GO TO A REPUTABLE SHOP, LIKE GMOL. I made a bad mistake two years ago, went to a shop around nashua, and now I have two REALLY expensive door stops, with even more expensive footbeds that cause more problems than they solved.

I will be skiing friday...and will report on the difference....

great LindaA
Isn't Greg a hoot! He was my instructor at the Masterfit University clinic. and I have to agree, attention to detail! Good luck. If you happen in to GMOL again, tell him I said Hi!

Last year I was in the same position as you. I stopped in at Bob Smith's in Boston and just happened to run into a man who claimed to be a boot fitter for team USA. He had a half hour of free time and offered to help me find the "right" boot. It did take a half hour to find it, but we ended up the X-Wave 8 as well. I love the boot, my feet stay warm and I find that I have much more energy late in the day.

Greg was wonderful. He really knows his sh..tuff. there were minute details that he picked right up on, solved issues with toe lifts, sole planing, and booster straps. I knew i was always to forward on my skiis but he picked up on the stance problem immediately, and fixed it.

I am more than pleased.

now I need to learn to ski in the proper stance...sigh.

I think this is the first time I'm gonna say this on this board, but in regards to the X-Wave's 3D Buckle...I told ya so

Good to hear that you found boots that fit sounds like you'll be going back to that store time and time again for new boots...keep that store it's always a great idea to visit every now and then to keep your face familiar with the long term workers there

Yes! you did tell me so!! and I walked in, told them my problem, the FIRST thing out of their mouths was "Salomon XWaves will solve that..."

tried on some other langes (Banshees) but they ALL crushed the top of my foot.

You called that one right!
