Some more .02:

I moved here last December. I grew up skiing the northeast and skied Aspen for the past 15 years or so.

What blew me away here in Tahoe are the number of resorts. However, after skiing Rose, Heavenly, and Squaw, HEAVENLY is astounding because of the killer views and broad mountain.

Homewood (near Alpine about 20 minutes away) and Diamond Peak (near Mt Rose) have amazing views of the lake but are small mountains that are not challenging compared to Squaw. Rose is opening the expert Chutes next month and that will be a real plus.

Squaw has great terrain. But those views at Heavenly may account for the mountains name.

I've not been to Kirkwood but for pure skiing it and Squaw are supposedly 'it'. I'll hit Kirkwood this year sometime.
