Park City / UT 1st Week in April

Thread Starter
Anyone have the stats on typical weather / ski conditions @ Park City for 1st week of April? Have access to condo @ Park C. for week. Will go to Cottonwoods as well, just wondered what was " usual" for that time of year.

I will be @ Alta for week mid Feb so hope for the usual POW for that time of year.

Thanks

I've skied a 3' dump at The Canyons in early April. I've skied in 80F degree sunny weather in early April. The three Park City resorts are relatively low altitude so you're far more likely to see spring conditions than midwinter conditions.

65% chance of marginal spring skiing.

20% chance of pretty good winter-like conditions.

10% chance of mud.

5% chance of the 3' dump mentioned.

LCC will most likely still be good to very good as a backup.

Ditto to the above comments. Here's an idea for a fairly unique trip, bring your clubs and skis, ski PCMR in the morning and then head over to the local golf course for a quick round of golf in the afternoon. The municipal course tries to open around April 1, so it's no a guarateed thing, but a pretty when it works it's a fun one...

I had the most awesome trip with a variation of that theme...

I booked Snowbird dirt cheap April 5-12, 2003. Skied winter conditions 1st 3 days before it warmed up (chest deep under thee Tram!!!), then when it got real warm (70 in the valley) I rented a Harley and did a 3 state tour! (UT, WY, ID)

If golf's your bag, that'd work well. Rock climbing too.

Howdy,

After 24 years in PC, these comments all seem about right, be prepared for new snow and cold temps or sun and spring. We would say closer to a 10" dump if it comes in April, have seen some real blizzards then. Usually the top of the hill stays very good and the bottom is very soggy. Golfing in Salt Lake in full swing (no pun intended) but generally in PC the course either still has some snow or is just downright soggy and closed. Good news is rates for condos are low and the sun sets late.

We like to ski right up thru the last day. Clown day is April 1st, come dressed as a clown, lots of locals do.

Cheers,

You will defintely see very musy snow on most of the mountain in PC. Bring good warm conditions wax!
