The days are getting shorter, the nights longer and colder, the leaves are starting to change color, and now, the clearest indication that ski season is within reach: the official announcement of the upcoming Eastern Tune-Up: ETU 2004! We know you’ve been eager for information on this year’s program. Rest assured that the ETU team of Bob Barnes, Ric Reiter (“Vail Snopro”), Tom Burch, Erik Timmerman (“Epic”) and James Michaud (“jamesdeluxe”) has been hard at work making this year’s event the best possible. We’ve listened carefully to your comments — both from last year’s post-event questionnaires and the suggestion box in the Epicski ESA forum — and have used that information to not only fine-tune what was successful last time, but also build in some exciting new options that’ll add even more value to your weekend.

For those who missed last year’s debut event, you’re probably wondering, “what’s so special about the Eastern Tune-Up?” Simply put, it’s all about top-notch instruction from the very best coaches at one of the nation’s most celebrated resorts, Stowe Mountain Resort in northern Vermont, in the company of passionate fellow skiers who want to improve just as much as you do. While honing your technique on the twisting, cozy, tree-lined terrain of Stowe’s Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, you’ll receive the right amount of corrections, tips, and encouragement to help “light bulbs” go off in your head and quickly take your skiing to the next level.

ETU is the best and most cost-effective ski instruction solution you’ll find anywhere. The coaching — provided by professionals like Ski Magazine Instruction Editor Stu Campbell, Eastern Demo Team Member Doug Stewart, long time examiners and instructor trainers Bob Barnes, Ric Reiter and Tod O’Dowd, Instructor Trainers Tom Burch, and others to be announced — is THAT GOOD. Check out the comments from last year’s events:

Whether we get hard and fast conditions, 30 inches of powder, or anything in between, ETU coaches will help you shake off your off-season “rust” and give you the tools to help you ski as smoothly and confidently as possible.

ETU 2004 will kick off on Friday December 10 with an evening orientation at the Carriage Room Restaurant (inside the Town and Country Inn). This’ll be a great opportunity to have a few beers with fellow Epicskiers and the coaches you’ll be working alongside. The following two days of on-snow coaching will be enhanced by expanded video instruction, an après-ski technical discussion, and a sumptuous dinner banquet at H.H. Bigham’s.

To give Epicskiers the most flexibility in planning their weekend, we have created an “à la carte” pricing system. The cost for two days of instruction will be $250, discounted lift tickets will be $58 for both days, and the Saturday evening banquet will be $50.

Watch for future announcements about our satellite clinics on the Friday before and the Monday after the ETU.
