Accomodation in Central Vermont

Before the season starts I'd like to get some leads on accomodation in central Vermont, around the Waitsfield area. Any suggestions for something clean and cheap in that area? I tried the Chamber of commerce but they were not that helpful.

Try Egan's Big World in Waitsfield. Nothing fancy, the rooms are pretty plain, but the price is right, the restaurant has good food and the pub is a fun place to hang out.

1. Mac's tip is good. Egans Big World is a made-over old one level motel with a fine restaurant/bar. Didn't stay there, but ate there and restaurant is pretty atmospheric (Egan Bros are renowned extreme skiers). Here's contact info:
Big World Lodge
Rt. 100
Waitsfield, VT 05673

2. I stayed at Peppers Lodge in nearby Warren Vt for a few days in 2000. It's more like a big chalet with about 15 rooms. Peppers (named after a cat) is not fancy either, but has an outdoor hot tub and an excellent breakfast restaurant on ground floor. Its only about a half mile from Sugarbush (south). Between the two you'd have your morning and eve meals covered rather nicely. Although, as you may know, there are a ton of other dining and lodging options in the Mad River Valley. Both places may have individual websites if you search hard.

There are many places to choose from, depending on level of accomodations you desire. Last year I stayed at the Beaver Pond B & B - it was a nicely renovated farmhouse, very clean, great food, and nice hosts. Would definitely recommend it if that's the type of thing you're looking for.
I've also stayed at the Sugar Lodge a while back. It was a basic hotel room-type lodge, but the website indicates it was recently renovated. The Sugarbush Inn runs ski & stay packages, and you can occasionaly get a last minute deals.

The resort also has condos that they rent, call 800-53-SUGAR for central reservations.

Inn at Mad River Barn

You might also try the Inn at Mad River Barn. Place is kinda funky old ski lodgy feel in one building and more motel-like in the other; home style cooked food. The woman that used to own MRG runs it. She sells MRG passes for cash only at a discount. Course it's been a while since I stayed there, might have changed.

Thanks for your suggestions, this gives me a few options to check-out when I can't get a spot at our ski club lodge. Thanks everyone.

I believe Peppers is closed...I know it was for sale this summer and I think the people who owned it have left the valley...Egans restaurant has moved and I am not sure if the hotel is still open
