Whoa......Atomic and Goode do knockoffs of the Phantoms???

Just saw the new Atomic ad touting the Metron, which looks almost exactly like the Phantoms, which came out last year. Heard Goode had a similar model. Looks like the little guys can't do anything without getting swept down upon these days. Guess the big guys are taking the independents seriously.

The ad looks like the Phantom graphic from their website but the Metron is not nearly as big.

The phantom is:
Length: 160cm
Tip: 180mm
Waist: 100mm
Tail: 165mm

The dimensions are slightly different- but atomic introducing that sidecut is pretty radical... 1000 bucks is way too much for me to spend on a ski anyways. I tried the phantom last season, i really liked it... but i'm glad they're fixing the flex and length on this years crystal ship model. Should be a pretty good time when the powder hits

Interestingly, their diagram disagrees with the written specifications at the side. The diagram shows a length of 1600 mm (aka 160 cm), and a tip width of 180 mm.

I don't know which is right. It's a great diagram, though.

I bet it was fun zipperlining big bumps on them : .

Seriously tho, I love trying far-out designs and would love to try a pair.

I skied the new Phantoms at Hood this summer. I wasn't expecting much, but was I blown away. They rocketed into turns and were blast. But what really surprised me was when I went back to my regular skis, my form had improved ten-fold, as I skied my skis like I skied the Phantoms - edge to edge, just cranking through the turns.

The Phantom will probably make more people better skiers, especially in powder, than anything out there.

Any pricing on these? Site is pretty weak on info other than dimensions. Thanks

As far as i've heard.. they're stil working on a few glitches with the web site and trying to get ready for the new model thats coming out. I believe they said they were going to be in the realm of $500 plus or minus. Not sure when they're gonna start the demos on crystal ship- but i'm certainly intruiged
