In between hot waxes I ski.
I hot wax every day or two of skiing, depending on the conditions. I tend to wear the wax off of my skis underfoot near the edges fairly quickly, so I wax often to prevent base burn.
If the remaining wax is clean, I'll brush it and wax over it. If it's dirty, I'll hot scrape. I very rarely use base cleaner.
I don't use rub-on waxes like F4. If there is a span of time when I can't wax may skis, I will put down a base layer of very cold (and hard) wax and then overlay that with the appropriate wax. At least my bases will have a little more protection. If the bases stick because of wet snow, I'll use a little Zardoz while there's still wax on the bases.
