Usually I laugh at people getting excited over early snows because they always melt. This year I'm wondering. It snowed 4 nights on Lone Peak last week and they are predicting more snow next week. Today was suppose to be a sunny, warm day and its turned cloudy and cool. Who knows, we might already be building a base.
The signs of an early winter are there. The birds are gathering in flocks early. To top it off I was walking my dogs in a wooded area in Bozeman yesterday and they treed two bear cubs. (I immediately exited the area knowing a pissed mother bear would be near.) The bears usually don't come into Bozeman until October.
