What are you looking for to do with the skis?
Do you ski on mostly groomed or ungroomed?
You say you are an upper intermediate so it is good that you want better skis but without knowing what you want from the skis it's hard to give you advice.
Do you make small, medium, or large turn shapes?
Do you get knocked on your tails on bumpy steep trails?
Do you bend you skis when making turns or just tilt them and let them make the turn shape?
Since you are 240 I figure that a stiff ski would be good for you but more information would help.
I ski mostly Groomed Blue Slopes and Trails. Although here in the east I am sure groomed is a little different that out west. Most of the time the slopes are pretty icy and crunchy.
I would say I make Medium turns now. Since the runs where I ski are short, I like to spend time going down the slope therefore I try to stretch it out a bit.
I do tend to get "knocked on my tail" on bumpy steep trails. I have chocked that up to inexperience. The more I read the more I think maybe it is a combination of equipment and skill level.
Currently I would say I tilt the skis to initiate a turn. Although at 240, I am sure they are bending.
I would agree with your assessment that I need a stiff ski. The 9.18's are great but when I get into bumps or soft stuff they really bend.
