Yes softening the flex is sompthing that can also be done but cutting a small V (3/4" wide and 2-3" long) into the back of the insde or lower shell. It would be cut aproximatly where the top of the achelies tendon. the lower, and wider the cut goes the softer the flex. As the upper cuff pushes forward against the V it will close and allow more movment with less resistance. This is however perminant and will Void any warrentes but you should not have to worry about that. It is a great boot I find it to be a great boot!
