I just booked a week-long trip to Steamboat for the 1st week on March...

Already had 5 day trip to Jackson Hole booked for early February and a 4 day trip to Mammoth in late March....

And then 7 days in Kauai for my anniversary in early April!!!!

Who else has confirmed trips already booked?

I've got two booked as well:

Late January, I fly into Albuquerque, NM, and ski one day each at Pajarito, Sipapu, Red River, Angel Fire, and Santa Fe.

Late February, I fly into Kalispell, MT:
Two days at Big Mountain
Two days at Fernie
One day at Kimberley
Two days at Kicking Horse (2005 Gathering)
One day at Panorama
One day at Turner
One day at Snowbasin or Solitude on the way back

Man, do I wish I had your jobs. I'm lucky if I can get away for 2 weeks/year.

I'm looking into a couple of options, leaning toward Steamboat or Aspen. But Jackson Hole flights are pretty cheap right now!

-Driving out to Steamboat for a week at Christmas.
-Whistler with adults only in January.
-Back to Steamboat in March (IF daughter qualifies for JO's)

British Columbia, New Mexico, Tahoe already set to be visited this year.

And my first ever season pass (Mammoth) assures me of doubling my previous best-ever days skied total. If El Nino shows up and makes some local skiing possible, this will be an Epic season.

Could I slightly hijack the thread by saying that I am planning a trip, but I am not yet sure where! No doubt you can recognise the problem. What I was interested in was the reference above by a couple of posters to Mammoth which is on our list of possibles, but I would like some further info. My son and I are going and we are both probably advanced skiers(as we would see it). If you have been to Whistler, we can ski the single black diamonds reasonably well, the double blacks are another matter! We would have to go end March/Early April due to his school calendar. What is it like then? Any recommendations on where to stay, we would have a car as we would drive up from LAX

colin, mammoth

first, i'd suggest posting this by its lonesome, and indicating in the post title that you're looking for mammoth info. plenty of people here can help you out.
as far as terrain, i happen to find mammoth and whistler pretty comparable. as is the case at whistler, the blacks and double-blacks are legit. if single blacks at w/b are fine with you, you'll find no shortage of terrain at mammoth that keeps you happy and challenged.
i can't really help you with lodging as much as others here will be able to.

"end march/early april" will bring you LOTS of snow.

it's a Great (and huge!) mountain.

on the contrary - mammoth can be pretty slushy end of march - as was the case in 2003. having said that - this year - california had one of the warmest march's. we had several 80 degree days in march. there was a big storm around the end of Feb and then nothing till - I think - the last day of March. That was the end of it.

But - this year - who knows.

True enough. Hard to predict conditions for anyplace, any time of the year. But the average temp for March the past many, many years is about 33-34 degrees (at Mammoth Lakes Ranger Station) (as compared to just below 30 for january). Weather happens.

SkiBum: Sorry, I can't get off for that time. Do you have any for later?

I don't but my ski club does. Breckenridge the beginning of Feb., and Quebec in early March. PM me and I'll be happy to give you contacts. BTW... Breckenridge is the Blue Ridge Ski council's winter carnival. www.skicouncil.com

December 9-16 - Staying at Solitude($79 a night 1br condo deal) plan on skiing there and Brighton and will hit Alta/Snowbird, Snowbasin and if Park City is good we'll go there.

Planning a gambling/skiing trip to Tahoe sometime in Feburary. Ski all day and play poker at night.

March 26 - April 3 Back to Utah...I hope

If the weather/snow cooperates, that December trip will be a blast. I'm kind of done w/ Solitude but it's good for a day. Snowbasin and Powder Mtn are now my 2 favorites in Utah. Too bad they are so far from my condo in Park City.
