Are glacier skiing and summer skiing pretty much the same thing? Sorry to ask I'm just not up on this! :

Like glaciers, snowfields often are separated from the surrounding rocks by a large gap, and can get undercut by water and air channels. The difference is that snowfields aren't supposed to get crevasses that (for example) result from a convex surface (ie, increasing the slope angle as the glacer goes down the mountain).
