I recommend Motel 6 for bed, McDonalds for food,...and the Kalispell MT mall for activities.
That's what Dubya would have you do, and if he's re-elected, you'll get a mall, McDonalds and Motel 6 all at Glacier. our National Parks are PROFIT CENTERS, dammit!
I'd do a lot of research and telephone calling before you go anywhere near Glaicer. It's a huge park with lots of different features, and the Waterton Peace Park (Canadian side) has even cooler stuff. loads of great hikes, wildlife galore, etc.
Important notes on Glacier: bears are NOT like Yogi and Boo-Boo. they're not cute, and they're not adorable. they're wild and they don't like interacting with humans. keep your food well away from them, as well as anything remotely scented like food (i.e., toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, vitamins, etc). they'll barge in on your campsite in search of food, and because they don't like interacting with humans, will react defensively (which can include attacks) if you startle them while they are burgling your camp.
Glacier is a true treasure, and PLEASE do not visit it with "resort" in mind. It's wild and untamed.
