What percentage of western resorts have been 100% open for the last two weeks. This whole west is best thing is a bunch of crap.
actually, cannon was most definitely NOT 100% open the day it closed (i was there). tramline, bypass, profile, and the glades were all closed/roped; however, some glades were still skiable and you could have made it down profile and by pass if you were into the self-punishment thing.
burke wasn't 100% open either. i kept thinking about going there near the end of their season but all their glades were closed as well as fox's folly for about 1-2 weeks prior to their closing day according to their snow reports which i watched carefully towards the end of their season (in addition to their closing day).
while i don't know for a fact that the other areas were 100% operation, it's easy to be 100% operation on your closing day when you get one foot of snow and cold temps the week that you are closing. skiing at these resorts was going FAST prior to that dump we got first week in april.
that said, most ski areas in the east DID close with excellent snow (although generally not 100% open). your best bets now would be a few ASC resorts (K, SR, MS, SL) and maybe the bigger northern VT resorts may still be open. tucks of course. recent reports have indicated some of the best skiing all season due to cold weather and late snow; however, it's starting to warm up and it won't last so ski it while you can!
