We're thinking of going to the Butte instead of Vail (man is that place expensive) during the beginning of March for 5 nights/4 days. We're going with a group of about 10 adults (intermediate up to mid-advanced) and 4-5 children (all but 1 is too young to ski). None of us has been to Crested Butte before but have heard great things about the mountain and town. It looks like the time we're thinking of going is "Spring Break Week." Has anyone experienced big crowds at Crested Butte? How does the terrain hold crowds? Is there enough stuff to do in town to keep non-skiers entertained for a few days? Does the mountain really live up to it's rep as "extreme?" How's the intermediate terrain? Thanks in advanced for the help.
