Park City & environs: good, cheap place to stay?

Hi everyone:

I'm new to this board and have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments.

I'm planning to go to Park City in Feb. The in-town resort prices for lodging are pretty steep, so I'm looking for suggestions for nearby places to stay. Is Salt Lake City too far away? If not, are there areas there to avoid? I'm a single woman traveling alone.

Also, others on the board recommended some places in Sandy, Utah. How close is that to Park City? Thanks everyone!

Welcome Chickadee!

As a former NYC girl myself, I can say that if you haved survived New York, you have nothing to worry about in Utah.

I'm not sure, but I believe that SLC has bus service to Park City. The locals can give you details.

If you stay in Sandy or Midvale, you will need a car to get to PC. But with the low room rates, it may be worth it!

As a former New Yorker, I welcome you to join the group.

When I was working in Midtown, I go skiing in Utah every year for about 10 years, so I am very familiar with the layout of the SLC ski areas.

If you want to ski at PCMH and all the other resorts, you'd better stay in town.

If you want save money and stay in SLC, rent a car, it is better than busing around from Downtown SLC to PC, as the bus fare is very steep.

We are going to stay in Midvale coming March, but our target is BCC and LCC, not PC.
