When do Tahoe resorts typically open, and whioch ones usually open first? (of course every year will be different... but still).
Greetings, megadeth in Palo Alto. We must be neighbors.
Boreal usually opens first, but it's on a pathetic little patch of manmade, crawling with snowboarders jibbing off of every immovable object. They try top open on Halowe'en weekend, but they haven't been managing that recently.
Heavenly is soon to follow, with a longer beginner run. They have the most extensive snow making in the area, so they can open more terrain sooner. Northstar may open one beginner run in mid-November, if the temperatures are low enough.
On average, I'd say that the third weekend in November will see a few areas offering very limited terrain. Last November was pathetic, then teh skies opened up after Thanksgiving. The November of 1994 was amazing, with all the areas 100% open on 6-ft. bases. I won't mention those drought years with essentially no natural snow until January.
