We had a great time out in Summit County last week. Made it to Keystone twice, Breckenridge twice, Vail one day, and even a side trip to Steamboat for one day.
For the powder lovers, nothing compared to Steamboat...but as a Midwesterner who's used to groomed crud and lots of ice, it was alot more work. I took a few good wipeouts there since it was my 2nd day of the season and I tend to get a little freaked when I'm skiing deeper real snow.
My daughter (the snowboarder of the family) liked Keystone the best. We did make it to the Kickapoo Bar and Grill for a sandwich and a drink. Nice place !
I really enjoyed Breck. It probably helped that I took an all day class there, so I was alot more comfortable with the runs and the overall layout. We went there early in the week and then on Friday. Peak 8 was open the 2nd time so that made it alot more fun.
We stayed in a condo in Frisco. That's a really convenient central location and the town seems more real....not just a built up resort town.
It's going to be a bit of a let down when we start skiing at the resorts in our area. But just getting out there, no matter the run length (or lack of it) or long lift lines is still fabulous.
