This from the ASPEN/SNOWMASS MTN. manager via e-mail just moments ago

"This weekend, November 9 and 10, we will open Snowmass and officially kick-off the season. Snowmass is the first mountain to open because of its incredible base depth. The Burn will open virtually wall to wall and snowmaking on the lower mountain will allow us to ski or ride all the way to the bottom. Operating lifts will include Fanny Hill, Coney Glade, and the Big Burn. We will shut down Snowmass after the weekend, until it's regularly scheduled opening date of November 28.

But don't worry, because the following weekends, the 16th and 17th, as well as the 23rd and 24th, we will be skiing and riding on Aspen Mountain. Yes, Ajax will be ready to go and we will have most of the terrain on the upper mountain. We plan to run Ajax Express for skiing and riding, while the Gondola will operate for uploading and downloading. Aspen Mountain will begin daily operations as scheduled on November 28."

I was snowshoeing around Campground and noticed that the lower portion of Slot and Powderhorn had more coverage yesterday than did all of last year.... so far it looks like a banner year on the Western Slope.
