Cheap hotel to stay at either Killington or Sunday River

A coupole of my friends and I are planning on going to either Killington or Sunday River over Thansgiving weekend...

Anyhow, being the poor college students that we are, we're looking to go as budget as possible on the trip for lodging... Anyone have any recomendations at either of the mountains?

We've been calling some of the places listed on both sites, but we figured if its linked to the site it'll be too expensive for us!

I might have a place for you. Years ago we used to stay at a motel in northern Rutland (~20-30 mins. from Killington base).
It was perfect for a few college guys on a road trip and very unique because it had 1 room that had 4 separate dbl. beds.

So nobody had to play footsie with their rugby mates after the game was over. It also had a small refrigerator for beer and salsa, a microwave for your Orville's and an electric burner for your can o' Dinty Moore. I last went there about 8 years ago and it cost 4 guys about $11 each per night. It was obviously nothing fancy, but it was clean.

I'm not 100% sure of the name, but I think I found it listed HERE . I believe it was called the Green-Mont Motel.
Give them a call and see if it's the same place. It should be cheap enough for you.

Couple options I can think of:

In Rumford there are a couple motels on route 2, about 15-20 minutes from the Rivah. The Blue Iris Inn and the Madison Inn. Both are decent places. I don't know the rates, but I know they're cheaper than anything in Bethel or Newry. There's also Berlin, New Hampshire; about a half hour away.

When I stayed at Killington a couple years ago I stayed at this place called the Royal Motel in Rutland, right on route 4. It was definitely not 4 star accomodations, quite the opposite, but it was clean and it had hbo, and it was like 45 bucks a night. There's a place right on the access road called the happy bear motel and I think that might be 50 or 60 a night or so. If you want a chain there's an econo lodge on route a mile or two before Pico and it's about 60 a night I think.

The turn of the river lodge is a nice spot within ten minutes of killington. I have sayed there 3 or 4 times and it has always been clean with nice people and the rates are what you are looking for. It is a quite spot but there is a bar within walking distance. www.turnofriverlodge.com

I stayed at the ramada limited in rutland last spring-they usually have a coupon in the local shopper's guide (the desk clerk told us we could grab a shopper's guide at the restaurant across the street) I think it came to $50 or so with the coupon

Hotel Royal it is! I just reserved a room for Thansgiving weekend at $49 a night per room (2 beds)... Not bad for 5 minutes from the mountain!
