It hasn't been that warm in Steamboat and the pow is still soft. As far as Cat skiing goes there, they have thousands of acres up at Buffalo pass and can go for a week or more without fresh snow and still find nice powder runs. They book up quite a ways ahead so, make sure you call ahead and see if they have room. They cater to all levels of skiers with lower intermediates getting the flatest terrain and the fewest runs. It all depends on how many real good skiers are booked that day to determine the terrain skied as people are split accordingly to ability. There is some real steep terrain. If you're lucky enough to have a large group of skiers that can handle the steep and deep, then more than likely you'll get to ski it. They won't split the group if only a few can handle it so yes, you'll stay with the intermediates but still get at least 10 runs of awesome pow. Check out their website.
