BC Fires

Does anyone have any info which BC ski resorts may have been affected the forest fires? The fires that have been burning up in Kamloops and Kelowna must be pretty close to Sun Peaks and Big White. I feel sorry for all the folks in Kelowna who have lost homes in the fires

Hi Wiz... Strawberry Hill fire near Kamloops is contained (meaning there is a guard around it) and quiet right now. It is 20 km from Sun Peaks. The OK Mountain Park fire on the outskirts of Kelowna is still very dangerous, but is a long way from Big White. Some family members of mine were evacuated from the Kamloops area, but there were no homes lost in their neighbourhood. However we have several friends who were evacuated from the Kelowna suburbs a couple nights ago on very short notice. It doesn't sound good for them... more than 200 homes were lost last night.

It WILL rain, and eventually, snow...

Thanks for the update.... Ya, it's been a pretty scary time for everyone in the interior. The rains will come, it's just a matter of when.

I've been checking the webcams.... So far it looks like Sunpeaks, Big White and Silver star are ok.
