USA Ski Heritage

Apologies if this is not the right place for this. Its more a question than a forum debating topic.

Does anybody know of any US National Body that oversees US Ski Heritage. The kind of body that acitively researches, archives and cherishes the history of ski-ing in the US.

Reason for the enquiry is my 'home' hill, Big Mountain (home being a lose term as I am from England but visit Big Mountain regularly) is currently being 'developed'. New condo blocks are being built at the moment, and tastefully so, and there are plans for the whole base area which include the historic Hellroaring Saloon. Its not known whether this will be bulldozed or moved as its in the way of a future condo block. Either way 50 years of history from the pioneering days of ski-ing and ski competition in the US could be obliterated.

Thanks for any assistance and apologies to the moderator for a) the content and b) the length of the message.
