When I inquired about Sun Valley here, leilaz had this to say:
quote:
I would like to note that IMHO all runs should be upgraded one level, i.e., green=blue, blue=black, black=double black, and double black=unthinkable.

I can't begin to tell you how much I agree. That mountain is steeeeeeeeeep!

I consider myself to be a level 4 (on the bring of 5) skier, but both the greens and blues were kicking my butt all day long. They'd just received 10" of new snow, so that could have had a lot to do with it. The small bumps were very hard to see. I didn't, however, notice any difference at all between the greens and blues. They were both much harder than any of the greens (and most of the blues) I've skied here in Utah, or in Colorado.

The Verdict: I don't know how it would be for the experts, but if you're relatively new to the sport and looking for a serious challenge, I highly recommend it. If you're not in pretty good condition, skiing more than one day in a row is going to be tough.

I would not recommend taking any first-timers with you. We took a girl that had been about 5 times 10 years ago. She got to the top of the mountain, took one look down, and ended up riding the lift back down to the lodge for the rest of the day.

As a side note: We did run into a few celebrities there too. One was a VERY GOOD snowboarder!
