What if you own several pairs of hard snow carvers all ranging in length from 154cm to 182cm?? I have 6 pairs of hard snow carvers. 154, 155, 155, 175, 182, 182 respectively. The 175 is most versitile (Fischer RC4), and turns the biggest variety of turn shapes. The Slalom lengths have better snap, but only make small turns with any kind of respectable energy. The 182's are pretty much unbearable on anything less than a perfectly groomed, HARD, wide, steep trail. They like to go fast, and they like to be on edge. They are race stock GS skis. I am 5'7" 155lbs. If youre looking for a free ski - go around 160 - 165 for slalom and 170 - 175 for GS - see FIS/USSA rules for true race skis.
