best / latest spring skiing - NY / New England

It's gettiing way too warm down in the city, and I saw a lot of rain (but had fun) last Sunday at Jiminy Peak. So, thinking ahead, here's the question:

Where is the best spring skiing in the NY / New England area, w/in a weekend's reach of NYC? I know Killington promotes this a lot but what else would experienced skiers recommend?

Two years ago when eastern areas had a fabulous season I got my last day of lift-served skiing in on April 17 at Jay Peak. They were one of the last few remaining open areas because although everyone got a lot of snow, the weather really warmed up suddenly. This year, less snow but the cold has really been persistent. If Jay is too long a drive, Stowe will be a good bet. I really, really don't like Loon Mt but they usually ski pretty late.
