Recommend accommodation in Whistler during end May

Hi,

I am planning on staying in Whistler Village (probaby) over next 10 days.

I will be by myself and am coming from UK. Can anyone suggest somewhere friendly and not toooo empty this time of year. I would rather not end up staring into my beer after a hard days ski.

Also any pub, clubs etc. you would recommend.

Finally, are all the transit options from Vancouver still operational at this time of yea?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Regards

Stephen

Stephen,
I strongly recommend:
The Longhorn Saloon
The Dubh Linn Gate
Merlins

I have never been thrown out of any of them, but I have been carried out a few times.

The Whistler Village Inn is pretty cheap and very
close to the Keg.

I believe Merlin's re-opens (at least for breakfast) on June 9.

Whistler Lodging Company is where I go for reso's. Ask for Aimee and beat her up on price. 1-800-777-0185.

I have also heard that private rentals through classifieds or internet can be real cheap though I've never been able to dial that in.

no no, Buffalo Bill's is the place to be! We organised an internet gathering in 99 at Whistler, and Buffalo Bills looked after us with a table of nibblies and beer specials every afternoon. We got to laugh at the videos of the various heli-skiing groups, who also gathered there (god some of them sucked).

should be some good accommmodation deals going; I remember in 97 we got a killer deal through Whistler Accommodation on a condo in the place above the Hard Rock Cafe. It was *cheap*. There was a great lift ticket deal thrown in, too.

Ya Dude, makes sense, with glacier skiing kicking off on June 10th. The Aussie is heading up before June though. Kind of confusing for me to say Merlins closed for season, I guess...The Comb opens, closes, opens, closes, then Opens for the season. I wish Intrawest would keep it open at least until May 1st during the "season", eh? :

If I went up June 10, are other lifts beside 7th Heaven and Solar open?

Hi Wear the Fox Hat?

Unfortunately I took no photos.

However, the restaurants really were good. I see from your other posts you also like food & wine?

My favourites were Bearfoor (I had brillaint Californian called Fife) and Arexis - both good wine lists and food. MD's from both of these resturants also rated RimRock and Gros - but time & skiing did'nt allow.

There was also a excellent sushi shashimi called Sushi Village - which also had great bearess potential (yup but I am non PC - girls )!

Ahh, yes, I remember Sushi Village. And I would agree with you. No PC (Plump Chicks)
