I'm thinking of doing a 1-2 week trip to breckenridge for a day, then to vail for a day, then to alta/salt lake area for a day or two, then to mammoth mountain in california for a few days. Any advice on the best time to do this. Also some good deals on lift tickets, and lodging. I have places to stay in colorado and mammoth which will save me there, and because I can stay in salt lake there should be cheap lodging there, right? I don't want to spend much over $500 for the trip(there are 4 people which will make it a bit easier, but still I think I'm pushing it)
Dude, how you gonna do all that with no skis?
Just messing with you, I hope that situation works out.
But as for your plan, I think it's too ambitious. You're better off focusing on one geographic area, maybe 2. Unless of course you like driving better than skiing.
If you based yourself out of a motel or your buddy's place near Dillon or Breck, CO, you could ski about 6-7 different (and awesome) world class mountains. Buy a perfect 10 pack, or Peaks card, and lifts will only be like $35-$40 a day.
From my experience, you're not gonna wanna leave Breck, or Vail until you've spent at least 2-3 days exploring them. Less driving also = less gas money, and less hassle (snowy travel, etc.)
Just my thoughts. Save the other destinations for another mission.
