I am looking for advice for a 2005 March sight seeing / skiing trip. I hope to combine one week travelling Arizona with second week skiing. We will be travelling from Europe and both of us are lower intermediates.
I would greatly appreciate views re ski resort- Tahoe area, Utah or elsewhere?
We once did a trip where we flew into Albuquerque, hit Ski Santa Fe and Taos, then drove west to the Grand Canyon. Up from the Grand Canyon to Zion and then on to SLC for Alta/Snowbird. We flew out of SLC. It's a lot of driving but it was worth it. Southern Utah is one of the most mind-blowing locations in the States.
Another driving trip that might be nice would be to fly into AZ, drive up to Zion and then east across S. Utah through the town of Escalante and then into Moab. Along this route you'd be able to visit the following parks: Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante, Capital Reef, Arches and Canyonlands. From Moab you can choose to head east to Grand Junction and on to Aspen/Snowmass or you can head south to Telluride, Crested Butte, or even into New Mexico for Taos. You could fly out of Denver or ABQ. Or, double back to Phoenix. It's a whole lotta driving but you'd sure get to see a lot of the West.
