X-Games 2003 @ Buttermilk./Aspen. What do U think?

Has anyone attended and or watched the X-games this year? What did you think? As far as accessibilty, weather, events? Is there enough beer and food....Is there any beer or food? Does anyone know where they're headed to next year. This is Aspen's second year in a row to host and I haven't been to the events, as I would rather ski on the weekends than watch others hucking, spinning, shoving (yesterdays boarder-X), flying, busting, etc....
Also what has ESPN Winter X-Games done for our glorious sport?

We went last Thursday and Friday and caught some of the events. As far as the setup goes, it was exceptional. I'm not sure how much of this was because of Skico or how much was ESPN. The events were well posted and everything was easy to find. This year they placed bleachers on the hill at the bottom of the pipe so you could watch those events as well as the Skier/Boarder X.

Everything is free, so a lot of the town turned out. In Glenwood Spr the principal offered the X Games as a reward for a reading program and then loaded up a bus with kids and took them there for the day.

The vendors at the base area were pretty cool. Slightly better than most events.

Perhaps the best thing of all was the weather. It was surprisingly warm for Feb. I wore shorts on Friday afternoon and just a long sleeve shirt.

What impact has it had on the sport? Hm.. skier X is now FIS sanctioned. That's pretty huge. And manufacturers must love all the kids banging up their boards on the rails.

exposing the unwashed massess to newschool and skiercross is GREAT for the sport as a whole. at least some of those kids who might have turned to the darkside (snowboarding) will realize how cool skiing can be.

exposure=free advertising=happy sponsors=more sponsorships=more pros=more pro wannabes=more skiers=more skiers buying skis=happy manufacturers=more ski R&D=better skis etc. etc. etc.
