Looking forward to next week 17-24. How's the snow holding up and are you still getting snow flurries? We hope to send this storm your way. It just hit SF last night and dumped some pretty good amounts here.
Watch out UtahBears, I'm headed back your way !

Utah looks good (even though the snowpack is 70% of normal). It's been trickling all week and will continue thru next week.

Dchan, We have ben getting small amounts of snow off and on.All things considered conditions are not to bad.But we are still waiting for that Big dump.Something like about 24" in 24 hours would be just about right.

Just an Up date for you Dchan.
We got a good strom in last night this Morning I woke up to some real sweet Utah Powder.Another storm is on the way in.This oneshould be colder and drier air,so snow will be even lighter then it was this morning.
It was a fun morning of skiing found some Knee deep stuff in the trees off 10th Mountain and bowls were just wonderful.I have to say I am glad I wasn't the guy that lost his ski in McConkeys Bowl. I did 4 runs and he was still looking for his ski.Powder cords are cheap and easy to use. They can save You a lot of grief and lost time on the mountain.
Ahhh Life is good! The only down point to my day is I have to work this afternoon.Still it's a small sacrfice to make when I get to live and ski in such a great place.

dchan - If you would like an Alta tour - I will be there Sunday morning. (Sounds like you already know the mountain pretty well though.)

Thanks Harpo,
I may take you up on that. We get in Friday night (late) and will be on the slopes all week. If you have a radio, we will be starting our days on 14-8 or if you leave me a note at the base of the supreme chair, I can look for you. We are staying at one of the cabins at the base of Vickys.
Talk to you more soon.
I'll be bringing a laptop so I can keep up at least once in a while.
I'll be in a 1 piece black Descente with a red square on the back, Carbon/boeri axis helmet and X-Screams Leki carbon/alu poles, Red Sallie boots and Smith goggles or oakly sweeps.
dchan, ya better put some duct tape on that there one piece Descente with a red square on the back. The locals frown on those at Alta,

Sorry i won't be able to meet up with you this coming week, i'm Headed home to Eastern Idaho. I need to escape to the free USA. Ohhh ok grandma's cooking is calling me as is a day trip to Grand Targhee.
Ya sure i can't entice you to take a shuttle over to DV?

Thanks again for the offer and too bad you can't make your Alta Debut this week. As tempting as DV sounds, I can't pass up first tracks every day at Alta. We are staying above the base of Supreme chair, We actually have to ski down to the chair to catch our first ride so when the resort opens and every one is rushing to get on the chairs that move people away from the bottom, we are waiting at either the sugar loaf chair or Supreme chair.

i was born and raised in Idaho Falls. Right smack in the middle of all those spuds, hahahaha.

I only ski a half day, so the best time to try and meet is first thing in the morning.
You could probably make a run on Sugarloaf and then head over to Germania and wait at the top.
You could probably be there between 9:30 and 9:45 – which is about the time we get up there for our first run.
We usually make 2 or 3 runs on Germania before moving on. Let me know if I should look for you.

I will plan on making it up there. 9:30. Sunday, Look for me.
Sorry I'm not for lots of hiking. especially that early in a week at high altitude. Let me know if this is going to be a problem. we are coming up from sea level and staying at 9200 so it's a little hard on the lungs.. I may try to drag my brother-in-law and maybe even my dad out..

I will look for you at the top of Germania by the new Patrol House at 9:30.

I will be with a tele skier in a burgandy helmet and I'm in black pants dark blue coat and a creamcolored hat.

Matt - didn't see your post.

I did meet dchan and we made a few runs but he got a call from the family - water problems at the house they are staying at - so it goes.

We did Freds slot, out past the fence line in ballroom, Glory hole from the germania side and Glory hole from the entrance off sugarloaf. Dchan handled it all in stride.

no woriies I am sure we will connect.
ti & I found big soft pillows @ snowbasin all day sat even with john paul closed.
it was nice.

I am sure you showed dchan a good time with out all the goods on display!

I am coming out for a two day quicky this weekend, 24th & 25th. I hear they are going to open John Paul at Snowbasin on the 22nd.
Do you think they will have the terrain beyond the Downhill course open?
How were the lines at Alta and Snowbird this holiday weekend? LCC is my prefered playground, but I really hate long lines. What are the best stratagies for avoiding lines at either area.
Local information is greatly appreciated and will be rewarded with mass quantities of buds and beers.

Big and Little Cottonwood canyons are looking pretty damn good right now. Parley's Canyon is a little lame.

Thanks a lot for a great few runs.
I managed to get an afternoon of skiing in with Scott Mathers at the ski school (black Diamond Challenge) and a lot more skiing in the trees and all over the place. We made it up to Regal chute. As I got dialed in to the crud and powder the skiing just got better and better. By the end of the week, I felt like I could do almost anything.

Anybody skied the LC canyon or Snowbasin this week? Gonna try to hit the 'bird and Snowbasin with my son this weekend.
