Pivot 14 & 18 - which ski's

Thread Starter

I'm going to Pivots for the first time and bought 1 set of 14s and 1 set of 18s.

1 to go on my 7yr old Mantras, which will be my rock/low coverage skis, the other to go on my new super special custom made Mantra like replacement.

I'm 5'8 165lbs expert dins at 9.

My question for this knowledge base:  which bindings to which skis?

:-)

I think it is pretty obvious. Use the 14 on the Mantra until Look brings back the Pivot 15..#Bringbackthe15. Waiting for the custom retro Pivot 15 collection.

Check 'em out. Hey, Look, Bring back the Pivot 15

Pivot 14 or Pivot 18? Seriously? People who need Pivot 18 don't ask question which binding they would need. Pivot 18 start DIN 8-18, if your DIN is 9, tell us again why you need Pivot 18 (by the way it is about $100+ more than Pivot 14)?

Pivot 15? Great one, but who knows when it will come, if ever and it will be all metal like 18 or all plastic like 14 (toe). Get 2 Pivot 14s and ski happy.

Oleg, Thanks for your commentary and indicating I don't know what I'm talking about ... however I did not ask which binding to get.

I bought both (for 2 sets of skis) because there's trade-offs with each binding and though the 18s I do not need I wanted for the toe and were $30 more.

I asked of the opinion which one I should put on which skis.

oh, no problem, may be I didn't get something... like why person who is using din 9 needs upper limit 18 (they are heavy, that is a trade off). If you have both Mantra's, put on the one which you are going to use to jump from the cliffs :snowfight

honestly, why is that matter if both skis are the same or similar, it is about what are you going to use them for.

Uh... obviously you stick the better binding in the better planks. So 14 goes on the old one.

OK thank you for the feedback.
I thought there might be a case to be made to put the 18s on the rock skis since they would take more abuse.
But yes I'll likely put them on the new main boards…
Thx

Put the 18's on your new planks, as they will most likely see the most action/abuse.

Like everyone else said, get the 14's. Save money, you don't need 18's lol.
