Moving on... - Page 8

I think trolling is frequently in the eye of the beholder. I've used Other if I thought someone was trying to start a fight, but confess to being hooked more frequently. Trolling's not allowed.

You can troll people without your posts being considered offensive or spam.  It's all in the delivery.  As forum communities evolve, the trolls can become more sophisticated.

Well there's trolling (wink-wink) and there's serious trolling, which is deliberately dropping a bomb (a highly controversial statement) into a community and prompting, maintaining, and enjoying the all-heck that breaks out. It's not always easy to differentiate between someone trolling and someone sincerely taking a stand that others disagree with.

"Other" is the selection, and in the comments, you can suggest that you think the poster is trolling.

Maybe we can have a rule against being a broken record?

Technically that's in there too actually :

Agree to disagree rather than carry out a pointless and endless, repetitive argument on a point of fundamental disagreement or belief.

Although as I read it, that only applies to one thread, and not jumping into 10 different ones with the same points/arguments.

It could be as applicable, I think. And mods could make that call.

Every thread is individual.  If someone ask the same question in two or more threads,  I might give the same answer.  That's no crime.
I've gotten plenty of flak thrown my way about my opinions here, but you don't see me running away.  If everyone has the same opinion then what's the point of it all?
People seek opinions from several sources to decide what they like or not.

I find that people sometimes ask opinions but really aren't willing to learn or accept other's views.  It's basically like school-yard "I know you are but what am I!"  It's very hard for some to say "I understand your point of view but I disagree and that's ok."  They try to proselytize to convert the inconvertible.  And then it gets personal.

My best friends ask my opinion on things that I'm an expert in and they sometimes STILL don't trust my opinion.  Some peeps just don't want to make that jump.  Can't help them.

Ha ha.  I am a home lawn expert and I have that problem with some of my customers.   That's life.  I'll have say five or six main points.  They decide to follow only 3 or 4 and wonder why there lawns still can't compare!   EpicSki is a great resource.  I'm most involved in the tuning and maintenance threads.  I throw out my take on stuff, yet there is always more than one way to do things.  That's good and okay.  For example, I am more into hand work where others prefer machines.  Let the readers decide what they like after reading all the stuff.  I have been to other ski sites and often I see the blind leading the blind.  The info is just not there and it's sad as I just like to help out fellow ski freaks who want to learn hand tuning and take care of their own gear.  Rock on EpicSki.

I was going to say you were... but now that I post this, I guess that's not the case. ;)

I'm trying and I've killed off many troll threads in the past @cirquerider

This one is like the storm that won't leave!

It's a nasty beast!
