Ski shuttle from Geneva to Val D'Isere

Hi:

I will be going to Val D'Isere next Chinese New Year to ski with my 15 yr-old nephew. He will be traveling from Hong Kong and I will be from DC.  We supposed to meet in Geneva on Friday (Jan 27th) and shuttle to Val D'Isere together.

Questions:

1) Only find shuttle schedule on weekends from GVA to Val D'Isere.  There are shuttles running on weekdays also, correct?

2) My nephew's return flight (to HK) will be at 8:30 p.m. in GVA.  If it takes ~3 hrs to get to the airport (180 km distance), is it safe to squeeze in the last day of skiing, say until 3 pm?

Thanks in advance for your response.

There should be shuttles running on a Friday. But, most of them will be running on weekends because most European travelers do 7-night trips starting on Saturdays or Sundays.

That said, it might be worth spending a night in Geneva and taking the Saturday morning shuttle. This will give you a bit of time to get over the jet lag, and it also gives you some time to do a bit of sight-seeing. It just depends on how long your trip is and how many days you have available for skiing.

On the last day, it might be best to just do a half day. Maybe finish around 1:00 just to be safe. The transfer can sometimes take around 3:30 or 3:45 if traffic is bad.

I presume you are returning on a weekday. If so the traffic in the Tarantaise valley will not be too bad.

But you are much less likely to be able to share a shuttle so it will be pricey.

As to getting n a last days skiing and how late to leave it I would not take advice from anyone but the shuttle company. They do the run almost daily and will know the time to leave.
