Actually its really - "what size 2017 Blizzard Brahma"  ....

I am 5'8 (in the morning once I stretch LOL) .....

170 lbs ,,,

50 year old in one week - crap getting old  ..

Resort skier (Colorado & Utah primarily)

15 +/- days a year

Not too aggressive ... but enjoy some spirited runs

Blues & easier blacks... On piste - occasional runs into the bowls

Limited bump runs - but once a day we venture in ...

I have a set of Bonafides for snow days ...

Should I get the new Brahmas in 173 or 180 ?  I usually ski short skis around 170 +/-

Binding suggestions greatly appreciated as well....

Thanks so much ...

I would guess, with minimal confidence, 173.  How long are your Bonafides?

Did you demo the Brahmas already?  Only 10mm width difference - did you think about going a little narrower to get less overlap?  Something like RTM 81 or 84?  I mainly ask because I'm thinking of switching from a one ski quiver (95 width) to a two ski quiver (mid 80s, and ~100), so going thru a similar selection process...

I believe my Bonifides are 173.... I find them a bit heavy and "slightly" too wide for front side carving....

If I was a better skier they would probably be fine ... Getting on edge is a bit of chore ... But dont get me wrong - I love the Bonifides ...

I have not demoed - but purchased all my skis based on forum reviews on here and you guys have never let me down  :-)  ....

For the type of skiing I do - 88 waist is probably a perfect fit - then I could rent wider demo skis for powder days if needed....

I am only out west 3 or 4 times a year ...

I would go with 173cm for sure.  I think a 180cm would hold you back a little bit base off this description of your skiing:

Really the only thing you'd gain from a 180cm is a little more stability at speed, but it doesn't sound like that's one of your concerns.  And, in a way, your Bonafides already provide that.

for sure ... I like to putz around the hill all day and enjoy working on turns rather than flat out running fast ...

Not saying I don't scare myself from time to time ...

but at my "slightly" advanced age - the last thing I want is an injury ...

Yeah I think you'll be happiest with the 173cm.  It's not impossible to ski in longer lengths, in fact I spent some time on the 188cm when we put together our Brahma review, but would've been much happier on a shorter ski.

As far as bindings there's a lot that would work well for that ski.  I personally like the Attack 13, but the Griffon, STH2 13, or Axial3 120 etc would all be good choices as well.
