Sounds like from the other thread your boot fitter is fitting you with a very thin pair of socks. That is the direction you should looking. The ultra thin sock will give you a better fit, be more comfortable and higher performance.
The purpose of the sock is not for warmth but to minimize abrasion and wick the moisture from around your feet to keep them dry (and warm). They will also perform some function of odor control (don't ask me how I know).
The Smartwool PhD Ultra light is my standard ski socks. I usually use 12 pairs of the exact same socks. Easier for me to find a matching pair. A dozen pair will carry me through four seasons. YMMV.
Some of the other reputable brands are Bridedale, Lorpen. Point6, Darn Tough, Thorlo, Fox River, Eurosocks and Wigwam They all make very good products. The ultra thin Eurosocks are especially comfortable but I had durability issues with them.
I usually get my socks a size smaller so to eliminate the possibilities of wrinkles. There is nothing worst than a wrinkled ski sock in a ski boot.
Good luck, have fun and welcome to EpicSki.
